On the evening of 19 August 2025, the spirit of unity and gratitude shone brightly at the Charity Gala Night: Honoring the Red Heroes, held in conjunction with the special screening of Legasi: Bomba The Movie at Golden Screen Cinemas, Queensbay Mall.
The event was graced by YBhg. Dato’ Ir. Rajendran P. Anthony, Mayor of Penang Island City Council (MBPP), and attended by distinguished guests, leaders, and supporters of Malaysia’s red-uniformed heroes.
A Collaboration for a Cause
This meaningful charity gala was organized by the Penang Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, in collaboration with MBPP Councillor Ms. Koay Gaik Kee, and made possible through the generous contributions of three main sponsors:
- MY ELINK (M) PLT – represented by Ms. Winnie Tan
- The Learning Kingdom Education – represented by Dr. Lee Eng Wah, Chairman of the Penang Chinese Entrepreneurs Association
- Wiitrac Elevator – represented by Mr. Winson Teh
The evening was officiated by YB Tuan H’ng Mooi Lye, EXCO for Local Government & Town and Country Planning, who also presented certificates of appreciation to nine sponsors for their invaluable contributions.
Also in attendance were YBhg. Dato’ Seri Phee Boon Poh, former Penang State EXCO for Environment, and YB Phee Syn Tze, State Assemblyman for Sungai Puyu and Advisor to the Penang Chinese Entrepreneurs Association.
Honoring the Red Heroes
The highlight of the evening was the donation of RM15,000.00, presented collectively by the three main sponsors to the Penang Fire & Rescue Department Sports and Welfare Club.
The contribution was received by Assistant Senior Fire Commissioner (PKPjB) Mohamad Shoki Bin Hamzah, Director of JBPM Penang, as a token of appreciation for the bravery and sacrifices of the Malaysian Fire & Rescue Department (Bomba).
A Night of Unity and Tribute
This charity event not only paid tribute to the dedicated men and women of Bomba but also reflected the compassion and solidarity of the Penang Chinese Entrepreneurs Association, the state government, and MBPP in recognizing and supporting our nation’s unsung heroes.
The night concluded with an exclusive screening of Legasi: Bomba The Movie, which was attended by members of the Fire & Rescue Department of Malaysia, alongside volunteer firefighters from across Penang.
The evening stood as a reminder of the importance of “Leading While Serving”, celebrating the courage of the Red Heroes and the community’s unwavering support for their mission.
